In a commanding display, Mountfield Sharks U12 secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Athletico Middleton Blue Sun U12s in their league away match held at the Athletico Middleton U11 Blue venue on 3rd November 2024. The match kicked off at 11:10 am, and the Sharks showcased their attacking prowess and solid defensive organisation throughout the contest.

The Sharks lined up in a 2-1-4-1 formation, which allowed them to maintain a strong defensive base while providing ample support for their attacking players. Kobe Gaskell took his position in goal, with Owen Shea and Daniel O'Keefe forming a robust central defensive partnership. In front of them, Jasper Heselwood operated as a central midfielder, tasked with linking play and supporting both defence and attack. The flanks were bolstered by Freddie Robinson on the right, Alex Savage on the left, and Jack Lundy and Harry Horsfield occupying central attacking midfield roles, with Jamie Silver leading the line as the lone striker. The substitutes for the match were Max Crellin and Percy Hay.

The Sharks wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with Freddie Robinson finding the back of the net just one minute into the match, courtesy of an assist from Jack Lundy. This early goal set the tone for the rest of the game, as the Sharks continued to press forward, looking to extend their lead.

As the first half progressed, the Sharks maintained control, but not without incident. In the 28th minute, Alex Savage received a yellow card, a moment that briefly disrupted the Sharks' rhythm. However, they held firm until the half-time whistle blew at the 30-minute mark, leading 1-0.

The second half saw the Sharks come out with renewed energy. In the 42nd minute, Harry Horsfield doubled their advantage, finishing off a well-placed assist from Alex Savage, who redeemed himself after his earlier caution. The Sharks were now firmly in control, and their confidence was palpable.

Just five minutes later, in the 47th minute, Jasper Heselwood added a third goal to the tally, with Freddie Robinson providing the assist. This goal effectively sealed the match, leaving Athletico Middleton Blue Sun with little chance of a comeback.

As the final whistle blew, the Mountfield Sharks U12 celebrated a well-deserved victory, with Harry Horsfield earning the accolade of Player of the Match for his influential performance. The Sharks' combination of solid defence and clinical finishing proved too much for their opponents, marking a successful outing in their league campaign.
