Labyrinth Football Club travelled to Ramochana on 28 March 2026 for their league away fixture against TG Stars, kicking off at 3:30pm. Despite a spirited performance, Labyrinth FC were edged out 2-1 in a tightly contested 90-minute encounter. The match saw TG Stars take an early advantage, with Labyrinth fighting back late on but ultimately unable to salvage a point.
Labyrinth lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, deploying Rapula Malusi in goal behind a defensive line of Monchusi Motlhatswi at right back, central defenders Kwazinkosi Sibanda and Amogelang Letoaba, and Karabo Lesame at left back. The midfield trio consisted of Johnny Liebenberg on the right, Pule Phosisi centrally, and Karabo Moyo on the left, tasked with both defensive duties and supporting the attack. Up front, the three forwards were Prince Moemi on the right wing, Amogelang Lesedi leading the line as striker, and Omphemetse Cloete on the left. The substitutes available were Kàmogelo Mogotsi and Mogorosi Katane.
The match began with TG Stars asserting themselves early on, and their pressure paid dividends in the 22nd minute when they scored from a set piece. The goal came from close range, finished with the right foot, leaving Malusi with little chance. TG Stars doubled their lead ten minutes later, striking again to put Labyrinth on the back foot as the visitors struggled to find a foothold.
Labyrinth responded with greater urgency and were rewarded just before half time. In the 41st minute, Monchusi Motlhatswi unleashed a powerful right-footed strike from outside the box, expertly assisted by a short pass from Johnny Liebenberg. This goal injected belief into Labyrinth and set up a tense finale to the first half.
However, Labyrinth’s hopes were dampened as central midfielder Pule Phosisi was shown a yellow card in stoppage time before the break, a caution that would later influence the team’s approach. The referee’s performance throughout the match was below par, rated at 45, which may have affected the flow and control of the game.
At half time, Labyrinth made a tactical substitution, replacing striker Amogelang Lesedi with Kàmogelo Mogotsi to add fresh impetus to their attack. The second half saw Labyrinth push forward in search of an equaliser, but TG Stars remained resolute defensively.
In the 70th minute, another tactical change saw Mogorosi Katane come on for right midfielder Johnny Liebenberg, signalling a shift in midfield dynamics as Labyrinth sought to regain control. Despite these changes, the visitors were dealt a severe blow in the 81st minute when left midfielder Karabo Moyo received a second yellow card, resulting in a red and reducing Labyrinth to ten men for the closing stages.
Playing with a numerical disadvantage, Labyrinth struggled to maintain their attacking threat, and TG Stars capitalised on the extra space to see out the match. Throughout the game, left back Karabo Lesame stood out with a commanding defensive display and tireless work rate, earning him the player of the match accolade.
Ultimately, Labyrinth FC’s valiant efforts were not enough to overturn the early deficit, and they left Ramochana with a 2-1 defeat to TG Stars. The result leaves Labyrinth with lessons to learn, particularly in discipline and defensive organisation, as they prepare for their next league challenge.
