Home league match

KVFC played at home this weekend to Westend in there second league game of the season.

Both teams started well showing that it was going to be a good attacking game and that was the case. Valley were the team to take the lead around 15 minutes into the game. A good through ball by Craig Clothier found Ryan Mogg on the left. Mogg played a neat little flick inside to Andy Vowles who drifted past the oncoming defender & squared the ball to Ben Stanley who tucked the ball in for his 4th goal of the season.

After the first goal Westend really started to pressure valley but the back four ran by Ollie Beesley was well commanded & defended everything that came at them.

Valley however did have a setback 7 minutes from the end of the first half when a mix up at the back saw a lose ball through to Westend striker who tucked the ball away into the left hand corner away from Valley goalkeeper Mark Jordan.

Half Time:

KVFC 1 - 1 Westend

Second half was as entertaining as the first half & again it was Westend who pressed valley deep back into there half. It didn't take long before Westend were ahead when a quick free kick saw good feet from the Striker who skipped passed 3 valley players & scored into the far corner.

It only took 5 minutes from Valley to get back in the game when some excellent pressing on the ball from Zach Michell gave Valley a chance to break away. Dan Andrews picked out a delightful through ball over the top for Mogg who took a great first touch & struck the ball sweetly with his left foot into the near post well away from the keeper. This goal really seemed to spur Valley on again & another quick break gave them the lead. Clothier found Mogg again in the middle of the park around 25 yards out. Mogg played a through ball out to Andrews to cut the ball back. The ball hitting the hand of the Westend defender & the ref pointed to the spot for Valleys third penalty of the season. Stanley again putting the ball down a tucking it away for his second of the game.

It was an onslaught at the end of the match with Westend pushing hard for an equaliser. They did have one chance at the end of the game when a well struck shot was parried by Jordan into the oncoming midfielders path from Westend, only 3 yards out & Jordan making another point blank save to keep the 3 points with Valley.

Valley defended valiantly today & dug deep to get the 3 points taking them to 6 points for the season.

A-Y-S cleaning & Crab Apple Inn MOTM - Olly Beesley who had an extremely solid game at the back & a mention to Ricky Smith his defensive partner who was also brilliant alongside Beesley.
