Away league match

Kenn Valley played there first away game in 6 matches against Wrington Reserves this weekend.

Valley got off to the best of start with a freekick 25 yards out on the left hand side, Craig Clothier looping the ball up & over the keeper into the top corner just inside 3 minutes. Wrington soon after came on strong with attacks down both flanks but Valley were defending well. The counter attack was proving to be good for Valley with Ryan Mogg & Nathan Preddy on the wings having a lot of time to break with the ball but chances were few & far between.

It was Valley who on the 30 minute mark let Wrington back into the game. The ball being lost in the midfield & a direct ball took a lucky deflection into the Wrington strikers path leaving him 1 on 1. The striker choosing to tuck the ball through Stu Wilson's legs at the near post putting them back into the game.

Valley remained strong defensively with Wrington pushing on stong toward the end of the second half but it was Valley who managed to break quickly & score against the run of play. The ball down the left hand side to Mogg who swung it into a dangerous area, Wrington keeper managed to palm the ball only to Preddy who put it back in the mix, Again the keeper got his hand to it but only as far as Dan Andrews who slotted the ball under the keeper & defender to make it 2-1 at half time.

Half Time: Wrington 1 - 2 KVFC

The first half ended too soon for Valley & it showed at the start of the second half with Wrington starting the better of both teams. Only 3 minutes in & some poor defending by Valley allowed a free strike on the edge of the box deflecting off of Clothier's leg & into the corner past Stu Wilson.

Only 5 minutes later & Valley were behind with a simple throwing from the right hand side allowing the Wrington player to take a touch finish from 6 yards out. Again Valley had gifted a goal to Wrington allowing them in front fot the first time in the game.

Valley were still pushing hard with Ben Stanley breaking down the right hand side, his shot struck straigh into the keeper.

It was a wonder strike that got Valley back into the game with the ball coming down the right hand side into Nath Preddy who found Josh Davies 20 yards from goal, Davies smashed the ball with his Left foot leaving the keeper stranded & the ball flying into the top left hand corner of the goal.

Valley knew they could win this game & it was a freekick 30 yards out from Clothier clipped into the box, flicked on by the defender & Josh Davies was there to secure all 3 points with a finish into the roof of the net.

Full Time: Wrington 3 - 4 KVFC

A-Y-S Cleaning Services MOTM - Zach Michell with special mention to Josh Davies, Craig Clothier & Dan Andrews who all played exceptional.
