KVFC Lose First Game Of The Season

Match Report:

KVFC started there first game of the season with a home encounter against Uphill Castle Reserves. Both teams were on the brink of relegation last season so were hoping for a good start.

Uphill were the team to start the best and it wasn't long before they were ahead. A good diagonal down the right hand side allowed the Uphill winger to play a great ball into the box & a great finish into the top right put Uphill ahead inside 10 minutes. It was on the half hour mark when Valley got back into the game. Ryan Mogg was able to break up play & played a ball inside to Aaron Pullin, Pullin playing a good through ball to Kenn Valleys top goal scorer last season Ben Stanley who tucked the ball passed the on rushing goal keeper to level the scores 1-1. It was not over in the first half when Uphill were able to bounce back & late in the first half the ball fell back to Ricky Smith in his own area hitting the ball against a team mate & ricocheting into the oncoming Uphill striker to finish the chance with ease.

The second half started well for valley creating some good chances down the left hand side & they had a great chance to get back in the game on 60 minutes. Stanley broke the line of defence & was pushed in the back & the referee blew for a penalty. Stanley however not able to convert the chance & the ball was put wide of the goal. This seemed to spur Uphill on & 10 minutes from the end of the game Uphill broke in numbers & a ball cut back to the penalty spot was neatly tucked away in the corner away from Stu Wilsons reach in the Valley goal. Valley started a fight back 5 minutes from the end when a free kick on the left hand side was swung in by Mogg & found it's way through to Smith in the Uphill box for an easy tuck in to make the scores 2-3.
