Match Report:

KVFC played away to Nailsea Utd This week in the league. A game which Valley knew would be key for them this season.

It didn’t take long for Valley to hit the ground running and 10 minutes into the game some good football from Valley. The ball fell to Andy Vowles in the box. Vowles battled hard in the box allowing the ball to drop to Luke Aspey. Only 6 yards out & Aspey faked his first shot getting away from both keeper & defender & tucked the ball into the bottom corner.

The lead wouldn’t stay very long though when 5 minutes later a foul on the edge of the box allowed a free kick to Nailsea in a good position. The Nailsea Striker managing to bend the ball into the bottom left corner away from the Valley keeper levelling the game up.

Nailsea were pressing hard now & there second goal was to come from a dubious corner decision. The ball ricocheting off of the Nailsea player but the corner was given. From the resulting corner a low driven ball into the box found Nailsea striker who tucked the ball past Olly Beesley in the Valley net.

That wasn’t it for the half & valley bound back with some fortune. Corner ball taken from Craig Clothier on the right whipped in low deflected off of a Nailsea leg & into the roof of the net. Valley were back in the game.

There was one more twist before the half with Nailsea on the counter attack they earned themselves another corner. Beesley punching the ball clear but a free player on the edge for Nailsea half volleyed the ball back & with a wicked deflection the ball nestled in the bottom corner.

The second half was as promising as the first with both team really pushing for a win. Valley seemed to really strengthen as the game went on & back three of Zach Michell, Louis Vowles & Ryan Mogg able to keep away anything that was being thrown at them.

It was 15 minutes into the second half when valley found the all decisive equaliser. The ball being played into Ben Stanley’s feet. He was able to turn away from 2 players in the box and drilled a ball low into Craig Clothier who finished past the Nailsea keeper to level the scores.

There was to be one last push from Valley & with 2 minutes to go & the game neck & neck Valley found there lifeline. The ball played again into Stanley’s feet. Again. He was able to turn away from the two defenders & seemingly slipping. The referee believing there was a trip & a penalty was given. Stanley stood up for his forth penalty of the season and tucked it away with ease.
