Kenn Valleys second pre-season game saw them play Clevedon Utd at Coleridge Rd.
Valley started well with a good tempo & excellent possession with both Aaron Pullin & Craig Clothier having plenty of touches in the opening 5 minutes. The first goal came within the first 10 minutes of the game. Clothier finding himself in some space in the centre of the park & picking an excellent 30 yard diagonal to Adam Stephens which he battled though oncoming challenges to tuck the ball away inside the left hand corner. Valley maintained good possession over the next 10 minutes but lacked the final ball in key areas to trouble Utd.
The next best chance fell to Valley on the 20th minute with a well whipped corner from Ben Stanley saw a free header at back post for Ryan Mogg headed over the bar. Utd started growing into the game with a range of corners seeing some excellent keeping from Stu Wilson between the sticks keeping out some close range efforts. Valley continued to press with the last chance of the half falling to Nath Preddy broken though on goal only for a last ditch tackle from the CB of Utd holt him in his tracks. Half time was soon upon both teams with the halftime score 0-1 to Valley.
The second half saw a more direct & structured Valley with & without the ball. Some brilliant interchanges between Stephens, Preddy & Stanley put Preddy through on goal with a nice turn but lacking the finish to follow as the ball rolled away from him. Valley continued to put Utd under pressure with Ricky Smith striking straight at the keeper from 12 yards out. The next chance fell on the 60th minute with Mogg breaking down the left & a good ball in falling to Preddy who had slightly over run the ball & the chance cleared by the defence.
Soon after Valley had there second with Wilson's quick distribution to Clothier who played in Josh Davies down the line. The cross was excellently delivered for Ricky Smith to guide home from 6 yards with his left foot.
Valley could taste the Third goal & went seeking for it with Clothier starting to run the game. A brilliant well timed pass from Stanley into Preddy put him through for a third time, this time attempting take it round the keeper but for a strong right foot denying his first Valley goal.
Valley did get the goal late in the half with another brilliant ball from Ben Stanley finding Preddy who this time composed himself and tucking the ball to the keepers left with his left foot. Finally the goal Preddy deserved after plenty of chances.
The game ended Clevedon Utd 0 KVFC 3.
A special mention to Ollie Beesley, Ady Wedlake, Pat King, Aaron Pullin & Craig Clothier for exceptional performances.
Man of the match given by Puddy to Craig Clothier who was a class above against his old team.
0 - 1 HT
0 - 3 FT
