Kadiju Horizon Academy hosted Kilusi Fc at Opanga Primary School on 2nd November 2025, with kick-off at 3:00pm in a keenly contested league fixture. The home side secured a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a first-half header, maintaining their unbeaten run in front of a crowd of 100.
Kadiju Horizon Academy lined up in a 3-4-3 formation, deploying Charles Omondi in goal. The defensive trio consisted of Fredrick Odhiambo at right defender, Kevin Ochieng centrally, and Benard Onyango on the left. The midfield quartet featured Melitus Oyoo on the right, Leopold Ondege and Newton Otieno centrally, and Venus Mwalo on the left. Up front, the attacking trio was made up of Peter Ojwang on the right, Edward Ooko as the central striker, and Habraham Owuor on the left. The substitutes available were Benard Omondi, Samuel Odek, Tom Odhiambo, and Paul Ondiegi.
The 3-4-3 setup was designed to provide width and attacking options while maintaining defensive solidity with three at the back. The wing midfielders, Oyoo and Mwalo, were expected to support both defence and attack, supplying crosses and tracking back as needed. Central midfielders Ondege and Otieno were tasked with controlling the tempo and linking play, while the front three aimed to stretch Kilusi Fc’s defence and create scoring opportunities.
The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when Kadiju Horizon Academy capitalised on a corner. Newton Otieno delivered a precise set-piece from the right flank, which Melitus Oyoo met with a powerful header from outside the box, sending the ball beyond the Kilusi goalkeeper and into the net. This goal proved decisive in a tightly fought first half, with both sides battling hard but unable to add to the scoreline before the interval.
At half-time, the score remained 1-0 to Kadiju Horizon Academy. The home side made a flurry of changes immediately after the break, with four substitutions all made in the 48th minute. Benard Omondi replaced Habraham Owuor in a tactical switch, while Samuel Odek came on for Peter Ojwang, also for tactical reasons. Venus Mwalo was withdrawn due to injury and replaced by Tom Odhiambo. Additionally, Paul Ondiegi came on for the goal scorer Melitus Oyoo, another tactical adjustment aimed at freshening the midfield and attack.
The second half saw Kadiju Horizon Academy focus on maintaining their slender lead, with the midfield and defence working diligently to repel Kilusi Fc’s attempts to find an equaliser. The home side’s defensive trio and goalkeeper Charles Omondi remained resolute under pressure, ensuring the clean sheet was preserved.
In the 74th minute, Benard Onyango received a yellow card for persistent infringements, reflecting the physical nature of the contest and his commitment to disrupting Kilusi Fc’s rhythm. Despite this caution, Onyango continued to perform his defensive duties effectively on the left flank.
The referee, who maintained control throughout the match, was rated 75 for his performance, managing the game well amid the intensity and tactical changes. Kadiju Horizon Academy’s disciplined approach and tactical flexibility ultimately secured them all three points.
Melitus Oyoo was named player of the match for his crucial headed goal and overall contribution on the right midfield, which proved pivotal in Kadiju Horizon Academy’s victory. The win at Opanga Primary School keeps Kadiju Horizon Academy firmly in contention in the league as they look ahead to their next fixture.
