Today we welcomed Bromsgrove to Hampton for our second encounter in the league, after late heartbreak when we played them last time where they grabbed an equaliser with the last kick of the game. Another stern test indeed was expected again today.
The first 20 minutes didn’t see too many chances for either side, but the game did burst into life when Fin bolted down the right hand side and got the ball in the box, where Harry connected well only to be matched by the keeper and defender for the rebound.
A moment of magic from the in-form Omar, twisting and turning until the space opened up and he connected well to fire past the keeper from just outside the box, 1-0.
5 minutes later it was Rushys turn, having missed the last 3 games through holiday, he was back on the scoresheet when he got on the end of Jacks pass to slot home. 2-0.
The boys came in at half time, having worked their socks off, 2-0 to the good, but this game wasn’t over yet.
Bromsgrove pulled themselves right back into the game when their pacey winger got the better of us down the left hand side and put a nice ball across for their midfielder to smash home. 2-1.
Hampton still had most of it though and when Fin slotted in at right back to combat their winger, there was only one team in it. The next goal started with Fin, when his free kick down the line was grabbed by Omar who pinged a high cross to the back post where it was nodded beautifully back into the top corner by Rushy, for a very rare headed goal, 3-1.
The game was sealed 3 minutes later, when Jack picked up the ball in his own half, drove down the left and had time to pick his spot which he did calmly, slotting into the far corner. 4-1.
The boys kept their composure and did their jobs to see out the game and were worthy winners today.
The back 5 were excellent with special mentions to Josh M, Rushy, Omar and Jack as they were all outstanding today. Man of the match goes to Fin, for an all-action display and definitely his best game of the season.
