Away cup match
Well, what can I say about this morning other than I’m very proud of every single one of the lads, what a performance!!!
We started the game brightly, but it was Coldlands who had the first opportunity and nearly went ahead after a dangerous ball into the box caused some panic, but lucky for us Harrison had cat-like reactions to tip over and keep the game 0-0.
Harry then came off the bench and made an instant impact, playing a lovely ball across which was smartly finished by our goal-machine Zak R.
A few minutes later it was back level, but straight from the kick-off captain Ollie launched one forward for Zak R to get on the end of and he dispatched neatly to put us back in front. 2-1 at half time and all to play for.
The second half saw Coldlands cause us a few problems but we battled hard and kept hold of our lead.
After some sustained pressure, Coldlands had an opportunity to score, but George put his body on the line and got the block in, unfortunately though it was with his hands after his face took the initial blow (a wonderful save if you ask me!!) and Coldlands were awarded a penalty which they stuck away.
The game finished 2-2 and we went on to the drama that is penalties.
I have to say, some really brave boys in this side, who stepped forward to take penalties. That confidence showed, and the script went exactly as I told them it would, when they all buried their penalties and our hero in pink would take care of the rest.
Zak R, Harry, Oscar & Zach S (the next would’ve been Ollie) absolutely brilliant lads, pressure? What pressure?
Harrison, not just in the penalty shootout, was bloody brilliant today. His kicking was tremendous, causing Coldlands all kinds of problems. Handling was superb, it really plays on the other teams mind when a keeper is saving the ball so comfortably.
And then penalties, where he saved 2 superbly, and he fully deserved Man of the Match today… well done Harrison!!
