Greensleeves started their Division 2 campaign with a hard fought victory as they overcame an lively Underdawgz side.

They started with a bare 5, Eddie was unavailable again so Lewis took his place in goal.

They scored almost immediately. Dave won a corner and floated the ball to the back post, where Matt was able to stroke the ball home. 1-0

Greensleeves kept the tempo up, and the Underdawgz really struggled to get hold of the ball. The lead was doubled shortly after when Dave found the net. 2-0.

The boys in Green continued to apply the pressure. Dave used his pace to get in behind the defence a couple of times, but the 'dawgz keeper swept up well.

Underdawgz did start to get into the game before the break, with Greensleeves dallying on the ball a bit at the back.

It was a warning sign that Greensleeves did not heed, and the second half started badly, with the Underdawgz pulling a goal back after sloppy play from the Greensleeves in possession. 2-1.

Greensleeves dropped deeper and struggled to keep tabs on the Underdawgz attackers, who came streaming forward. Having just 5 men started to take it's toll on the team in the energy department, with Josh struggling especially after a recent illness. It was soon 2-2 as Lewis saved with his feet, only for the rebound to go straight back to the striker for the equaliser.

Greensleeves fell behind for the first time midway through the half, the Underdawgz player cutting inside and firing home. 3-2 and it looked all over.

The lads were not to be denied though. Matt picked up the ball deep and ran towards goal, firing home to equalise. 3-3.

The Substitutes continued to pressure the Greensleeves defence, and hit the woodwork on more than one occasion.

Greensleeves really had to dig in, and managed to make the most of a counter attack. Sam went forward, received a good ball from Josh, rounded his man and finished with real composure. 4-3.

There was still time for a couple of scares, but Greensleeves held out for an important win. It appears that Division 2 will be more of a challenge than Division 3.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Sam defended will, and did very well to grab the winner.

STAT OF THE MATCH: Greensleeves have never lost a match in which they have taken the lead.
