Home league match
Glebe U9 Jaguars picked up a well-deserved 2–1 win against Penge Panthers in a really exciting league match, with every single boy putting in an outstanding performance in both attack and defence.
Glebe started brightly and created chances early on. Freddie Brown hit the post in the 9th minute, and Alex was unlucky not to score on 17 minutes when his effort also struck the post. Lewis had a go soon after on 19 minutes as Glebe kept the pressure on and moved the ball well all over the pitch.
The breakthrough came on 18 minutes when George Mansell played a great pass through to Alex, who finished confidently to give Glebe a deserved 1–0 lead. Ben continued the pressure with a strong effort on 29 minutes, before George Mansell tried his luck from outside the box on 30 minutes.
At the back, Glebe were solid and organised, with everyone working hard to defend as a team. Harry was called upon in the first half, making some good saves and helping keep Glebe in control. The work rate across the whole team was clear to see, with players tracking back, pressing, and supporting each other all over the pitch.
The second half saw more of the same from Glebe, showing energy and confidence going forward while staying strong defensively. Alex went close again on 42 minutes as Glebe continued to create chances.
The standout moment came when Ben scored a brilliant, well-placed goal from outside the box to make it 2–0. His all-round performance, energy, and composure earned him a well-deserved Man of the Match award. Penge Panthers pulled a goal back to make it 2–1, but Glebe stayed calm and focused.
Jax stepped in during the second half and made some excellent saves when called upon, showing great bravery.
The final minutes summed up the performance perfectly - all the boys worked incredibly hard in both attack and defence, showing great teamwork and determination right until the final whistle.
A fantastic team win and a great performance from everyone. Well done, Jaguars!
