On 30 November 2025, Crowland Juniors U13s 2025/2026 welcomed Peterborough Lions U13 Blue to Bretton Park for a league fixture kicking off at midday. The home side produced a commanding display to secure a 5-1 victory in this 11-a-side encounter lasting 70 minutes plus added time. Crowland Juniors’ attacking prowess was evident throughout as they controlled the match from start to finish.

Crowland Juniors lined up in a 3-2-4-1 formation, deploying three defenders at the back with Thomas Nairpour on the right, Lloris Kanyua centrally, and Kaiden Tee on the left. This defensive trio was tasked with providing solidity and width to repel the opposition’s attacks. In front of them, the midfield pivot consisted of Albie Daniels and Hadi Derbas, who were expected to link defence and attack, break up play, and distribute the ball efficiently. The four attacking midfielders were positioned with Josh Santos on the right flank, Preston Bucknell and George Ireland centrally as attacking midfielders, and Patrick Ion on the left. Their role was to support the lone striker, Miguel Pires, by creating chances and applying pressure high up the pitch. Danny Roberts guarded the goal, providing the last line of defence. No substitutes were named for this fixture.

The match burst into life early on when Crowland Juniors took the lead in the 12th minute. Josh Santos delivered a precise assist to George Ireland, who finished clinically to open the scoring. The home side’s attacking intent was clear, and their fluid passing caused problems for the Peterborough defence. As the game progressed, Crowland Juniors continued to press, and their efforts paid off again in the 31st minute. Once more, Josh Santos was the provider, setting up Preston Bucknell to double the advantage with a well-taken goal.

The first half concluded at the 35-minute mark with Crowland Juniors firmly in control and leading 2-0. However, the home side were not finished before the break. Just five minutes later, in the 40th minute, right defender Thomas Nairpour ventured forward to deliver an assist to striker Miguel Pires, who made no mistake in extending the lead to 3-0. This goal highlighted the attacking freedom afforded to the full-backs in Crowland’s system and the clinical finishing of their striker.

The second half saw Peterborough Lions attempt to mount a response, and they managed to pull a goal back in the 54th minute, offering a glimmer of hope. Despite this, Crowland Juniors quickly reasserted their dominance. In the 63rd minute, midfielder Hadi Derbas provided a key assist to Miguel Pires, who scored his second goal of the match, restoring a three-goal cushion. The home side’s control and composure were evident as they continued to dictate play.
