Cov Cathedral 3 St Johns 2

Cathedral once again showed great bouncebackability once letting a 2-0 slip away with only 10 minutes remaining until Andy Doc broke away to secure the 3 points.

The game started quite scrappy with boggy areas of the pitch proving quite difficult. Cathedral managed to soak up some pressure even with the unorthodox lineup due to players absent and Kieran having to step up to play in goal.
On the half hour mark Ian managed to find some space to wip a low shot across the keeper who only managed to palm it to a goal hungry Andy Doc who made no mistake to pounce on the rebound and fire the ball into an empty net.
The team were all fighting hard to keep the clean sheet and managed to do that on half time with some arial dominance from Adam, the 'have it' no messing approach from aman and good challenges from the back 4 and midfielders.

The game started off slow in the second half with no real chances for either side, a change was made to bring the silky Muzzy into the game for Ben who was struggling with slight muscle strain. This forced Ruddy to slot into lb who had been excellent all game.
Not long after andy doc managed to find space at the far post to chip the ball back across the goal in which Ian finished with his head past the helpless defender on the line.
Soon after St Johns started to apply some real pressure which nearly lead to a third goal from Cathedral on the counter attack a number of times with good down the right hand side with Gaz in acres of space.

St Johns within the space of 10 minutes managed to score twice to make the scoreline 2-2 with fantastic finishes which left the goalkeeper with no chance.

The game looked like it was to end as a draw but with minutes left to play Pete managed to thread the ball through to Andy Doc to smashed the ball low and hard off the post despite having players to the side of him, he took the chance well and really looks like a top goal scorer at this level.

Late on a St Johns striker was sent off for a 2 footed lunge on the stand in goalkeeper Kieran who was solid as a rock all game with a few important saves and fantastic distribution.

The whole team played a real part today with excellent work from Pete and Quinny in the middle who had a tough ask today but prevailed with excellence.. Jack made his debut as he replaced Gaz but only managed to claim 10 minutes in a tight match. John also played very well at rb as he cleared the ball on a number of occasions.
