Cathedral continued their extremely tough start to the season with a trip to Coundon, to face Affinity. The rain had poured down for hours and it was initially feared that the game may have to be postponed. An early pitch inspection by the ref confirmed the game would go ahead.

Cathedral shown signs of brilliance in the early stages, with the ball being played down both flanks. After a corner was cleared, Muzzy played a cross in which was met by the head of Gaz from 12yards, which then looped into t he top corner, emphatic header,Yes you are correct.... Gaz! The look of surprise when he scored was priceless.

Straight after Cathedral made it 2-0 when a drilled free kick by Quinny was only parried by the goalie and tapped into the back of the net by Thomas.

Another pulsating attack by the mighty greens ended by a deliberate foul on Ian, the resulting free kick driven with venom by the outside of the midfield maestro Quinny’s right boot into the back of the net.

Contrary to the score line affinity are posing a threat to cathedrals back line who until now have kept them at bay, although a defencesplitting pass seen the big number 9 through on goal, which lee was equal to with a fantastic save low to his left, superb reactions there Geoff.

Sloppy defending by affinity gifts raj the ball who, with a composed and a precise pass, picks out the pacey and lively Thomas to drill home his second of the game and for our German followers "fantastisches Tor".

On that note the referee calls time on a superb half for cathedral despite the dreadfully moist weather conditions which hasn't deterred the mighty green army support.20 + supporters stood on the side lines and thanks to Neils 19 umbrellas, most of them managed to stay mostly dry.

Little update from the bench with Will warming up who has replaced the very wet looking Ian.This game isn't finished yet with affinity still threatening but luckily another wayward finish Cathedral respond with another quick fire attack, with muzzy laying off to Will who looked off side but keeper saves. Thats one for the dubious decision panel, looked offside from here. All of a sudden the game has become very open and end to end with both keepers being called upon A long range effort from the fresh legged Will is saved low to the keepers right

Another attack from cathedral ends in muzzy being steam rolled by the big centre half. The resulting free kick from Quinny hits the wall and another shot from the edge of the box is skied over.

We have some movement on the bench, with a double substitution, macca and Kieran being introduced to freshen things up, back to the game the ever vocal lee is shouting the orders, keeping his defence in line, crikey its a wet and miserable saturday morning

While affinity argue about an off side decision against them cathedral break with a precise through ball from Quinny down the wing to Will, who somehow from a tight angle beats the keeper at the near post, superb finish.
