In a commanding display, Carbrain Clarets 2011's secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Lenzie 2011 in their October week friendly home match at Oak Road. The match kicked off at 10:00 am, and the Clarets showcased their attacking prowess and solid defence throughout the encounter.
The Clarets lined up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, with Theo Stevenson in goal, flanked by a back four consisting of Riely Brady on the right, Robert Byrne and Daniel Abdulrahman in central defence, and Jacob Thomson on the left. The midfield was structured with Connor McMahon on the right, Noah Webb on the left, and Kai Logan and Leandro Schammas occupying central roles. Ciar McKlusky played just behind the lone striker, Aidan Donnelly, who led the attack. The formation allowed for a balanced approach, with the midfielders expected to support both the defence and the forwards.
Aston Allison ready to make an impact during the match.
The first half saw Carbrain dominate the 1st half with a controlling performance and composed in possession, but it was the Clarets who made the first tactical change when Aidan Donnelly was substituted off for Aston Allison in the 27th minute. This early substitution indicated a strategic shift as the Clarets looked to maintain their momentum.
As the first half drew to a close, the referee signalled for half-time at the 35-minute mark, with the score still level. The Clarets had shown promise but needed to convert their 4 clear cut chances into goals but composure in front of goal was lacking slightly.
The second half began with renewed energy from the Clarets. Just a few minutes in, in the 52nd minute, Jacob Thomson was replaced by Leandro Schammas, who would soon make his mark on the game. It was Schammas who played a pivotal role in the 54th minute, providing an assist that led to an own goal by a Lenzie player, putting the Clarets ahead.
With the momentum firmly in their favour, the Clarets continued to press. In the 58th minute, Leandro Schammas scored a goal of his own, expertly finishing a move set up by Connor McMahon. This goal further solidified the Clarets' dominance and left Lenzie struggling to respond.
As the match approached its conclusion, Aidan Donnelly re-entered the fray, replacing Ciar McKlusky in the 36th minute, and he made an immediate impact. In the 67th minute, Donnelly found the back of the net, assisted by McKlusky, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory for the Clarets.
The final whistle confirmed the Clarets' triumph, a result that showcased their attacking flair and defensive solidity. The Clarets will take great confidence from this performance as they look to build on their league campaign.
