Carbrain Clarets 2011's welcomed East Kilbride 2011s to Oak Road 3G on 18 October 2025 for an 11-a-side friendly match, kicking off at 11:00am. The Clarets produced a commanding display to secure a 5-1 victory over their visitors in an 80-minute contest, including added time.

Carbrain Clarets set up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, with Archie Edgar guarding the goal. The defensive line featured Ryan Griffin at right back, Zack Graham and Daniel Abdulrahman as central defenders, and Liam McGuire on the left. The midfield quartet consisted of Connor McMahon on the right, Tyler Scott and Noah Webb centrally, and Matthew Malone on the left. Just behind the lone striker Fergus Davies, the attacking midfielder role was initially occupied by Kobe Stevenson. This formation was designed to provide defensive solidity with four at the back, midfield width and support, while allowing the attacking midfielder to link play and create chances for the striker.

The substitutes named were Ciar McKlusky, Luka McVittie, and Kai Logan.

Early into the first half, Carbrain Clarets made a triple substitution at the 20-minute mark. Kobe Stevenson was withdrawn due to injury, replaced by Ciar McKlusky. At the same time, Connor McMahon was taken off for tactical reasons, with Luka McVittie coming on, and Tyler Scott made way for Kai Logan. These changes reshaped the midfield and attacking dynamics significantly.

The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Luka McVittie capitalised on a cut back cross from Kai Logan, slotting the ball home inside the box with his right foot from close range to put the Clarets ahead. The home side’s fluidity and attacking intent were evident as they took the lead.

East Kilbride responded with a goal of their own five minutes later, in the 39th minute, pulling one back to keep themselves in contention. However, the Clarets’ resilience was soon tested further as Matthew Malone was forced off injured in the 40th minute, with Connor McMahon returning to the pitch. Tyler Scott also came back on, replacing Ryan Griffin in defence, at the half-time whistle.

The first half ended with Carbrain Clarets holding a narrow 1-1 advantage.

The Clarets quickly regained control after the break. In the 50th minute, Ciar McKlusky scored following a well-executed team move, finishing off a long pass from Tyler Scott. This goal restored the Clarets’ lead and lifted the home crowd.

Just a minute later, Kai Logan doubled the advantage with a right-footed finish inside the box, assisted by a cross from Connor McMahon. This rapid double strike put Carbrain Clarets firmly in command.

The Clarets continued to press and extend their lead, with Ciar McKlusky scoring his second goal of the match in the 71st minute. He was set up expertly by Kai Logan, who delivered a precise assist allowing McKlusky to finish confidently with his right foot inside the box.

From that point on, Carbrain Clarets controlled the tempo and saw out the remainder of the match comfortably, sealing a comprehensive 5-1 victory over East Kilbride 2011s with Kia Logan’s 2nd of the match with a fantastic free kick converted from 25 yards .

The Clarets’ tactical adjustments and the impact of their substitutes proved decisive, with McKlusky and Logan particularly influential in the second half. The defensive unit, reorganised after the substitutions, maintained solidity to prevent further goals from the visitors.

This dominant performance at Oak Road 3G showcased Carbrain Clarets 2011's attacking prowess and squad depth, setting a positive tone for their upcoming fixtures.
