A commanding performance from Bowers & Pitsea U14 Whites saw them secure a comprehensive 5-2 victory over Hawkwell U14 Blacks in a friendly match at the Eversley Leisure Centre. The home side showcased their attacking prowess and tactical discipline, leading to a memorable display that delighted the fans and coaching staff alike.
The match commenced with an early attempt at goal, but it was Rhys Hughes in goal for Bowers & Pitsea who drew praise for a full-stretch save that kept the score level in the opening minutes. However, the resilience of the home side was tested just minutes later as Hawkwell U14 Blacks found the back of the net to take a surprising lead within the first quarter of the match.
Despite the setback, Bowers & Pitsea responded vigorously. Mattie Bristow began the fightback, netting the equaliser after being set up by Oliver Norton with a long pass that split the defence. Bristow’s composed finish inside the box demonstrated the quality within the squad, igniting the momentum for the Whites.
Just three minutes later, the ever-reliable Marvellous scored, showcasing his skill and positioning with another well-timed shot from inside the box, assisted by Lewis Barber. The home side was now firmly in control, and Marvellous added another to his tally shortly thereafter with a well-executed finish, further extending the lead before half-time and leaving the visitors struggling to regroup.
As the second half commenced, the Bowers & Pitsea Whites continued to apply pressure. Oliver Norton showcased his attacking intent, finding the goal after a well-played corner delivered by Cory Jennings. Bowers & Pitsea’s confidence was evident, and the combination play between players was a joy to behold.
Cory Jennings himself soon got on the scoresheet, scoring in somewhat fortuitous fashion from a deflection following a clever header from Marcus Stanbury, adding yet another goal to the tally and capping off a convincing display from the team.
Although Hawkwell managed to find a second goal mid-way through the second half through a goalmouth scramble, it was merely a consolation in a match that had already been decided by the relentless pressure and creativity of the Bowers & Pitsea side.
The game included a series of tactical substitutions from Bowers & Pitsea, aimed at maintaining the flow and control within the match. The changes saw fresh legs introduced, allowing the team to sustain their high-energy approach throughout the contest.
As the final whistle blew, the scoreline reflected a dominant performance from Bowers & Pitsea U14 Whites, who will take great confidence from this encounter as they continue their preparations for the upcoming matches.
