Moral Victory

Freezing cold night, icy underfoot, slipped around a lot, for example Tony completely fell over taking a corner.

We played with 10, after a couple of late drop outs. Went behind to a long range shot into the roof of the net and further behind to a peach of a cross headed in by the oppo striker.

Lovely reverse pass from Paul, Tony lined up to shoot and cynically taken out by the oppo defender. A clear cut penalty dispatched by Ilyas into the roof of the net. 1-2.

Second half, they somehow claimed a much more dubious penalty. Sam is breaking out of our box with the ball at his feet, their striker gets his legs tangled in Sam and they claim it. Very iffy, if you ask me. Tyson beaten for 1-3.

Some great pressing by Paul and George in particular, but a Tony calf strain meant we were playing with 9.5. Tony battled on though, like a warrior, and even supplied the assist for a long range screamer from Paul. 2-3.

We pressed but couldn’t quite get the equaliser. A moral victory to the ten men.

The Latch was quiet, but not Duke level quiet!
