Kante? Can’t-Ay More Like

Good to have Sam back - scored an oggy, late cameo up top and also provided quote of the night which is used for the headline of the report (more on that later).

We started with 4 ringers and Conrad on the bench, Sam with his first start in ages. Played some nice passes, Tom threading the ball through for Cesar to fire low into the net. 1-0.

Bit unlucky to concede when the oppo strikers shot was going wide and took a deflection of Sam. 1-1.

Conceded another from a cross from their right and a back heel from their older striker into the net, so behind 2-1 at the break, not that there was a break.

Second half we didn’t really grab the game by the scruff of the neck, too many loose passes, running into trouble, tricks that didn’t come off, reluctance to shoot etc. Best moment of the half was a cross from Tom, which looked a peach from where I was stood, but Tom later modestly said it was slightly behind Cesar.

Their third was a strange one, the oppos younger striker scooping a shot in from the floor.

And the 4th was a header from a corner, our left back Gabriel complaining that he had two to mark.

MotM vote in the pub went to Cesar for a tireless display up front on his own.

The Latch had a private function on and some guy who I mistook for a tramp on the door would not let us in. So we dropped in on Nelson at the Duke instead. Three in the pub, but a strong three. ??

I explained to Sam that one of our ringers had told me before the game that one of the other ringers was “like Kante”. “Can’t-ay” more like, said Sam. And it was difficult to disagree with that.
