Well done John, Latch, Punt, Jacko and the other Fosters lads for organising a team at short notice after GLA struggled to field a side and cancelled. Norman's cosmopolitan eleven where drawn from the four corners of the earth and will be fostering deep regret to not get something from a game in which they played some nice football. It was a good battle, one of those which could have gone either way (like all games right?! - ed) but the BOC goals seemed to come just at the right time. Starting line-up:
Tyson
Stu / Punt / Zamora / Sheedy
Jnr. / Zondervan / Toto / Chettle
Yilmaz / Hoff Snr.
Not a lot happened in the first twenty. Latch started playing for the oppo, and had a couple of chances to score against us from corners. Going the other way, Jnr. was in spritely form, gambolling along down the touchline, arms flailing wildly, putting in some good crosses - he looked dangerous in many ways. There was some nice link up between the two Hoffs at various points - they seem to know each other fairly well, and that understanding showed on the pitch. BOC's opener came from Yilmaz who ignored calls to pass it wide right and curled a shot into the middle of the goal. It looked very good, but their GK probably should have done better. Sheedy with the assist after intercepting on the half-way line (what a player he is - ed). One nil to the Bachelors of Commerce at HT.
The second half had lots of incident including four goals and some woodwork for the CDT enthusiasts. I think they equalised fairly quickly following HT, getting a bit lucky from pinball and a few missed tackles from BOC to boot. BOC's second was a really nice goal. Jnr. picked it up on the right and went on a really good direct run into the box. His pull back found Toto (I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas any more) who did a clever flick/dummy to bemuse about three defenders leaving an easy finish for Latch to sweep in right footed. They must have scored another shortly after that, probably a similar fluke or some such. After that, Junior went close a couple more times with their GK saving a 1:1 and another that hit the post. The winner came from the head of big Latch, nodding in Toto's (I kiss the rains down in Africa) corner.
All in all a tidy performance from BOC having turned a bad run into a good one (of two).
