Oppo DexEU took a welcome few hours break from trying to extricate us from the EU to give us a battering at Battersea.
Ilyas in goal, Tyson up front. We are nothing if not versatile.
Sporting a surprisingly high South American contingent, the Brexit boys didn't seem to get the memo about us being pretty much a vets side and turned up with a team full of players in their 20s, one of whom (the number 6) had apparently played professional football in Colombia.
By God he was good too. Conrad said he was the best player he had seen at Battersea and it was hard to disagree. Sorry Phil. I was trying to close him down from our corner, but before I got too close he flicked it past me and was gone up the pitch with a couple of his speedy mates, 1-0 to the oppo.
2-0 when we all thought their right winger was going to cross and he instead smashed it in at the near post.
3-0 they just pulled us all over the place to be honest.
Half time breather and the second half was a lot tighter. We put about 3 men on 'number 6' (who was still doing things like lobbing the ball backwards over his head and beating his desperate markers kind of when he felt like it) and aside from a peach of a headed own goal from Sheedy and a long ranger that hit the post, we shut the back door. We even got a goal back with a crossy looking shot from Tom.
