Home league match
Once again, the day had seen an awful lot of wind and rain, but it cleared for the game window, to leave pretty near perfect, if a bit cold (*) and a little skiddy, playing conditions.
(*) - Said Stu, clearly missing his usual pre-match beers.
10v9 1st half and 10v10 2nd half, as Cundall were decimated by drop outs and had to rely on support from the 5-a-side boys.
A truly ludicrous game ensued: we started brightly, keeping possession nicely and 2 smart finishes from Charlie made it 2-0. Then it all unravelled a bit, as it seemingly can for BoC, and before we knew it we had conceded 4 goals, were losing 4-2 and I thought, at least, on the brink of a real hiding.
Even worse, I realised as Andy turned up at half-time that we had had a 1 man advantage 1st half and now Andy was going to play for the oppo and even up the numbers.
Weirdly though, we upped the tempo, regained our composure and re-found our scoring touch. Ben got the first goal of the second half, which felt a bit like a consolation goal at the time. Tom punished a goalie mistake, 4-4 and - hang on a minute - are we back in this?
First Charlie, then Ben completed their hat-tricks (Charlie's first hat-trick, no less) and the improbably comeback was realised.
Still time for a consolation, but it was Cundall with it, nice finish into the corner from a shot on the edge of the box.
A few candidates for MoTM. Honourable mentions to Rich and Ben, but Charlie just sneaked the vote in the Latch.
Form is won 4 drew 1 in the last 5, going into next weeks match with old adversaries Broomwood.
Conrad, George - played full game for oppo
Andy - played 1/2 game for oppo
