A Deft Flick Is It?

Struggling with school half term, the usual injury crisis and a bit top heavy with ringers we contrived to hang on for a possibly slightly fortunate draw.

Should probably have conceded a pen early on when our clumsy centre half definitely got more of their strikers ankle than the ball, in fact not even close to the ball.

Got away with that and raced into a 2-goal lead, ringer George cutting back for ringer Dani to finish. Then good work on the wing by Paul set up Ilyas, whose scuffed shot crept in.

Usual collapse and back to 2-2, before ringer Dani turned provider with a lovely weighted pass for Ilyas to run onto and finish. "Why don't I get service like that every week" was Ilyas's comment in the pub later!

Rich came on at half time and I amused myself listening to their centre backs running commentary on the game and particularly our attacks - "Going route one, are we?", "A deft flick, is it?".

Turns out neither was successful and it was all a bit long ball. ASJS contrived to hit the inside of the post twice, but did equalise with one attack. We hung on.

At the Duke, the gas had run out, so so did the beer. Not a great look for a pub. Switched to the Latch, which was virtually empty and filled with a whole load of new staff. Strange sort of atmosphere. I guess the theatre being closed is not helping them.
