*This weeks match report comes in the style of Alan Sheerer, for coach Chris ??*
*SHEARER: 5–2! NE DOUBT ABOUT IT, THE ARBORFIELD AZTECS ARE ABSOLUTELY FLYIN', MAN!*
Farley Hill Primary School, Saturday 18 October 2025 — Howay, let's get doon to business. What a display! The Arborfield Aces U10s Aztecs have kept that 100% unbeaten run goin' with a proper smashin' 5–2 victory over the Berks County U10 Lions. You canna fault the effort. They were sharp, they were clever, and they showed massive character—and that's the bottom line, aye! It was a canny league clash, but the result never looked in any doubt whatsoever.
*TACTICS AND THE STARTIN' VII*
The gaffer's set them up canny. A good, balanced formation, built on a proper solid foundation.
You've got Byron in goal—and when they say he was a "cat in goal", I like that, because he was pullin' off saves left, right, and centre like a canny lad, and his distribution was absolutely top class.
At the back, Oscar was massive. He was coverin' all areas of defence like he owned the whole pitch, givin' Tommy Johnson and Ethan the chance to get up the park. Cameron in the midfield gets a shout too, gettin' back to help the defence. That's what you want to see from yer lads.
*FIRST HALF: THEY HIT 'EM WITH A CANNY START!*
The Aztecs flew oot o' the traps! No time-wasting, none o' that faffing about.
Just four minutes in, Tommy Johnson showed lovely initiative. He drops into a defensive midfield position to pick up the ball, then drives forward, deliverin' a pinpoint assist. And who's there to stick it away? Jacob. One-nil. And two minutes later? Same again, man! Tommy’s delivery, Jacob’s finish. Two-nil. That's a partnership, that is!
The substitution saw George come on in the 13th minute and, let me tell ye, he made a real impact, didn't he? He got himself a stunning goal—a right-footed volley from Theo’s clever corner assist in the 21st minute. A proper striker's finish, that. He leathered it!
Three-nil up at the break. Geet good.
*SECOND HALF: JACOB'S HAD A PROPER GRAB OF GOALS!*
Berks County got one back early (26’), but the Aces didn't panic. They went straight back up the other end.
Jacob, back on the pitch after a little rest, got his third on the 32nd minute, thanks to George. Good link-up, this is!
But the best one? The fourth goal (36’) was pure class of teamwork. George makes a magnificent run, goes past two defenders—and I mean he left 'em standin' like traffic cones—draws the keeper oot, and with a lovely, cool pass, finds Jacob. He's not missin' from there, is he? Four goals for Jacob! That's the stuff of legends, even if he was singin' “Let it go”! What's all that about, eh? He was telling his defenders to let the ball go out for throw-ins! Which brought laughter from the touchlines ??
The Lions managed a second, but it was just a consolation, man. 5–2 at the final whistle. Clinical.
*SHEARER'S STANDOUTS*
Theo gets the Player of the Match award, and I'll tell ye, I canna argue. His hard work breakin' up the attack and his creativity were absolutely spot on. He was the main man in the middle, pullin' the strings.
Jacob, four goals. Ne bother. Get him the match ball, and maybe a choir for next week.
Byron was fearless and his distribution showed he's got the know-how to go with the saves.
And Oscar deserves a special mention. He was givin' clear, positive instructions. That's leadership, that is.
*WHAT'S NEXT?*
They get a week off—canny rest for them—and then they're off to face Finchampstead Arrows on Saturday 1 November. The gaffer says they won't be complacent, and they'd better not be. But with that kind of form, and four goals from Jacob, the Arrows will have to be proper good to stop this train! Howay the lads!
