The home side emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline after 90 minutes of action, much to the delight of the 100-strong crowd. The match burst into life almost immediately as APS SEAL took the lead in the second minute. Jeremiah Wafula, the left defender, found himself in an advanced position inside the box and was supplied with a short pass from central midfielder Edwin Munyendo. Wafula calmly finished with his left foot from close range, giving the home side an early advantage and setting the tone for the contest.

Throughout the first half, APS SEAL’s shape allowed them to control the midfield and restrict Transnzoia’s attacking opportunities. The two central midfielders, Munyendo and Shiswa, worked tirelessly to break up play and feed the attacking trio. The wide midfielders, John Juma and Godwin Nambikhwa, provided width and creativity, while Victory Fadhili remained a constant threat up front.

The half-time whistle arrived with APS SEAL holding a slender 1-0 lead, a scoreline reflective of their early dominance but also the resilience of Transnzoia’s defence.

Just three minutes into the second half, APS SEAL doubled their lead. Noah Shiswa, stationed in central midfield, threaded a precise short pass to right attacking midfielder John Juma, who was well positioned inside the box. Juma took a composed left-footed finish from close range to extend the lead to 2-0, putting the home side in a commanding position.

In response to the growing pressure, APS SEAL made tactical substitutions shortly after the hour mark. At 55 minutes, Samson Baya replaced Godwin Nambikhwa on the left attacking midfield, while two minutes later, Francis Keya came on for Alvin Likare in the central attacking midfield role. These changes aimed to refresh the attacking impetus and maintain control of the game.

The match’s intensity increased as Transnzoia sought to claw back into the contest. However, APS SEAL’s defensive unit remained largely composed, despite a moment of dissent from central defender Brian Tendeni, who was shown a yellow card in the 67th minute for his reaction to a decision.

Transnzoia finally found a way through in the 76th minute with a well-struck effort from outside the area, reducing the deficit to 2-1. This goal injected urgency into the visitors’ play, but APS SEAL’s defence and goalkeeper Bravin Shikuku held firm to preserve the lead.

The closing stages saw APS SEAL manage the game effectively, denying Transnzoia any further clear chances. The home side’s disciplined shape and tactical adjustments ensured they secured all three points.

Jeremiah Wafula’s early goal and overall performance earned him the player of the match accolade, highlighting his contribution both defensively and offensively from left back.

In summary, APS SEAL’s 4-2-3-1 formation proved effective in controlling the midfield and creating scoring opportunities, while their defensive resilience under pressure secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Transnzoia at Bullrings Arena Kakamega.
