The league was founded in 1993 and has been growing steadily ever since. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of women playing football in England, and the West Riding County Ladies Premier Football League has played a major role in this growth.
The league is divided into 5 divisions: Premier Division, First Division, Second Division, Third Division, and Development League. The Premier Division is the highest level, and the Development League is the lowest level.
The league season runs from September to May, with each team playing each other twice. The top teams in each division are promoted to the next level, and the bottom teams are relegated to the next level.
