The Russell Foster Spring Cup is an amateur football league for under-16 teams in the North East of England. It is run by the Russell Foster Youth Leagues (RFSL).
The Russell Foster Spring Cup was founded in 1972 by Russell Foster, a local businessman and philanthropist. The cup was originally intended to provide a competitive outlet for under-16 teams in the region.
The cup has grown in popularity over the years and is now one of the most prestigious youth football competitions in the North East. The current holders of the cup are Sunderland RCA.
The Russell Foster Spring Cup is a knockout competition. The competition is divided into two stages: the preliminary round and the main round.
The preliminary round is open to all under-16 teams in the region. The top teams from the preliminary round progress to the main round.
The main round is a straight knockout competition. The quarterfinals, semifinals, and final are all played at neutral venues.
