History

The Peterlee District Football League was founded in 1962 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially consisted of just 8 clubs, but it has since grown to become one of the largest Sunday leagues in County Durham.

The league has been won by a number of different clubs over the years, including Easington Colliery Welfare, Peterlee Hearts, and Seaham Island Social Club. The current champions are Easington Lane WMC.

The 2022-2023 season is the 61st season of the Peterlee District Football League. The Premier Division is currently led by Easington Lane WMC, while Division 1 is led by East Durham.
