About Liga Bbva

Introduction

The Liga BBVA is an amateur football league in Spain. It is not to be confused with the La Liga, which is the top professional football league in Spain. The Liga BBVA is organized by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

History

The Liga BBVA was founded in 1989. The original name of the league was the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Amateur (National Amateur Football League). The name was changed to the Liga BBVA in 2008, after the Spanish banking giant BBVA became the league's main sponsor.

Structure

The Liga BBVA is divided into three divisions:

Division 1
Division 2
Division 3

Each division consists of 20 teams. The top two teams in each division are promoted to the next higher division, while the bottom two teams in each division are relegated to the next lower division.
