Gaborone Youth League

The Gaborone Youth League is an amateur football league in Gaborone, Botswana. It was founded in 1997 and is currently the largest youth football league in the country. The league is open to players aged 13-19 years old.

History

The Gaborone Youth League was founded in 1997 by a group of football enthusiasts who wanted to provide a competitive and structured environment for young players in Gaborone. The league started with just a few teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams participating.

The Gaborone Youth League has produced some of the best young players in Botswana, including Kabelo Dambe, who currently plays for Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa. The league has also helped to develop the skills and knowledge of many young coaches and referees.

Structure

The Gaborone Youth League is divided into two divisions, the Premier Division and the First Division. The Premier Division is the top division and the First Division is the second division. The teams in each division play each other home and away, and the top teams at the end of the season are promoted to the next division.

The Gaborone Youth League also has a cup competition, the Gaborone Youth League Cup. The cup competition is open to all teams in the league and the winner of the cup is the overall champion of the league.
