Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA)

The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) is the governing body for high school sports in the state of Florida. It was founded in 1923 and is responsible for regulating and overseeing all aspects of high school athletics in Florida, including football.

The FHSAA amateur football league is open to all high school students in Florida who meet the eligibility requirements. The league is divided into three divisions: varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen.

Season

The FHSAA amateur football season runs from August to November. The regular season consists of 10 games, followed by a playoff tournament.

Rules

The FHSAA amateur football rules are based on the rules of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The rules are designed to promote safety and fair play.

• The game is played with 11 players on each team.
• The object of the game is to score more points than the other team.
• Points are scored by carrying the ball across the opponent's goal line or by kicking the ball through the opponent's goal posts.
• The game is played in four quarters, each of which is 12 minutes long.
