2025-26 - 140 Teams across 15 Divisions
The Essex Veterans League is an amateur football league for players over the age of 35. It was founded in 1993 as a sub-section of the Mid-Essex League, before becoming an independent league in 2002.
The league currently has 86 teams playing in nine divisions, as well as five over-45 divisions. The teams come from all over Essex, from Southend in the south east to Walthamstow in the north west.
The Essex Veterans League was founded in 1993 by a group of players who were looking for a way to continue playing football after they had reached the age of 35. The league started with just four divisions, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams.
The league has also expanded its age range to include players over the age of 45. The over-45 divisions were introduced in 2002, and they have become increasingly popular in recent years.
The Essex Veterans League runs a number of competitions throughout the season, including the Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The league also runs a cup competition, the Essex Veterans League Cup.
In addition to the regular competitions, the league also hosts a number of special events, such as a veterans' day and a veterans' cup final.
