The Eccles Sunday Football League was founded in 1922 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league started with just 8 teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has 30 teams.

The league has been home to some talented players over the years, including former Manchester United and England international David Beckham. Beckham played for the Eccles United team in the 1980s.

Current season

The current season of the Eccles Sunday Football League started in September 2022 and is scheduled to end in May 2023. The top 2 teams in each division will be promoted to the next division, while the bottom 2 teams in each division will be relegated to the lower division.

The current leaders of the First Division are Eccles United, while the current leaders of the Second Division are Ellesmere Park Rovers. The current leaders of the Third Division are Irlam Catholic.
