About Crewe & District Football League
Introduction
The Crewe & District Football League is an amateur football league based in the town of Crewe, Cheshire, England. It was founded in 1884 and currently has 30 clubs competing in 5 divisions.
The league is affiliated to the Cheshire FA and its highest division, the Premier Division, is at Step 7 of the English football league system.
The league's motto is "For the Love of the Game" and its aim is to provide a fun and competitive environment for players of all abilities.
History
The Crewe & District Football League was founded in 1884 and was originally known as the Crewe & Nantwich Football League.
The league expanded in the early 20th century and by the 1920s, it had 16 clubs.
The league was suspended during World War II, but it resumed after the war and continued to grow.
In the 1970s, the league expanded to its current size of 30 clubs.
Current Structure
The Crewe & District Football League currently has 5 divisions:
- Premier Division
- Division One
- Division Two
- Division Three
- Division Four
The Premier Division is the highest division and is at Step 7 of the English football league system.
The other four divisions are at Step 8 of the English football league system.
