The Cambridge & District Sunday League was founded in 1923 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially had just four clubs, but it has since grown to become one of the largest amateur football leagues in Cambridgeshire. The league has also been involved in a number of initiatives to promote football in the region, including the Cambridge & District Sunday League Junior Cup and the Mick Pocock League Cup.
