Introduction

The Brighton & Hove District Football League (BWDFL) is an amateur football league in England, based in and around the cities of Brighton and Hove and Worthing. The league was established in 1903 and currently consists of 14 divisions, ranging from the Premier Division to Division 7.

History

The BWDFL was founded in 1903 as the Brighton & Hove & District League. The league expanded rapidly in its early years, reaching a peak of ten divisions in 1967. However, the number of clubs in the league began to decline in the late 1990s, and the league was reduced to only two divisions in 2011.

In 2014, the BWDFL merged with the Worthing & District League. The merger created a new league with 14 divisions, and the league was renamed the Brighton, Worthing & District Football League.

Current Structure

The BWDFL currently consists of 14 divisions, ranging from the Premier Division to Division 7. The Premier Division is the top division in the league, and is followed by Division One, Division Two, and Division Three. The remaining divisions are divided into two groups: East and West.

The league season runs from September to April, and each team plays each other team in their division twice, once at home and once away. The top teams in each division are promoted to the next higher division, and the bottom teams are relegated to the next lower division.
