What is BAFA?

The British American Football Association (BAFA) is the national governing body for the sport of American football in Great Britain.

BAFA is responsible for all regulatory, competition, performance and development aspects of the game.

The responsibilities and activities of BAFA include the following:

• The organisation and promotion of all amateur domestic national competitions across both contact and non-contact versions of the game.
• The organisation and promotion of the national teams in international competition.
• The provision of coaching, refereeing and officiating education and training.
• The development of the sport at all levels, from grassroots to elite.

BAFA was founded in 1983 and is based in Birmingham, England.

The current president of BAFA is Peter Warr.

BAFA National Leagues

The BAFA National Leagues (BAFANL) are the primary American football domestic League competition in Great Britain.

The League is run by the British American Football Association to coordinate contact football within England, Scotland and Wales.

The top level is the Premier Division and the BritBowl is the annual final championship game.

The BAFANL Division One is the second tier of British American Football, for the 2023 season it holds 30 teams, now divided into 5 Divisions.

The Divisions are grouped into a North and South Divide with NFC standing for "Northern Football Conference" and the SFC being the "Southern Football Conference".

The current individual names of the each Divisions are the NFC 1 Scotland, the NFC 1 Central, the NFC 1 South, the SFC 1 West and the SFC 1 East.
