About Alliance Football League

Introduction

The Alliance Football League (AFL) is an amateur football league in England. It was founded in 1889 and ran for three seasons, from 1889–90 to 1891–92.

The AFL was created as a rival to the Football League, which was seen as being too elitist. The AFL was more open to clubs from all levels of society, and it also allowed professionalism.

The AFL was initially successful, but it eventually folded due to financial problems.

The AFL is sometimes confused with the Alliance of American Football (AAF), which was a professional football league that existed in 2019.

The AAF filed for bankruptcy after one season, and it is not related to the AFL in England.
