Poor Performance

Wreckingham lost in very disappointing fashion. The opposition started with only 5 players and despite a very sloppy start Wreckingham took the lead early on. There were warning signs even with a man advantage, with opposition players being allowed to carry the ball from the goalkeeper to the Wreckingham goal with hardly a challenge to stop them. Soon after the goal the remaining players arrived and the game was 6 vs 6 and Wreckingham doubled the lead.

There was a lot of complacency in WFC's performance and after going 2-0 up it all went wrong. The team were trying to defend a 2-0 lead for almost 30 minutes, getting stuck in their own half for the remainder of the game with the only route out from keeper going long up to Bunn. Josh was forced to make so many saves and kept the score respectable but Wreckingham deserved to get thrashed against opposition they probably should be beating.

The whole team played with such a level of panic after the game went to 2-1 and the ball was hardly cleared or passed properly for the rest of the game. The midfield contributed very little after 2-0, with the defence having to constantly face 3 on 2 and 4 on 2 situations because Connor and Billy lept letting their men go and on the rare occasion WFC gained possession there was no composure and good openings were wasted with rushed passes all over the pitch.

The worst thing about the game is how comfortable Wreckingham were until 2-1 and then how dreadful the rest of the game was, one of the worst feeling defeats in a long time and Ed and Jay were badly missed.
