Away league match

Worthing Dynamo U13 Black travelled to The Angmering School on 16 November 2025 for a 1:00pm kick-off in a league away fixture against Rustington Otters U13. The match ended in a 2-2 stalemate after a competitive 70 minutes of football plus added time, with both sides sharing the spoils in an entertaining encounter.

Worthing Dynamo lined up in a traditional 4-4-2 formation, deploying Archie Parker-Muckle in goal. The defensive line consisted of Toby Rennie at right back, Leo Whyatt and Toby Killick as central defenders, and Bailey Freshwater on the left. In midfield, Woody Mason took up the right midfield role, with Isaish Hatton and Teddy Gill operating centrally, and Dexter Courtnadge on the left flank. Up front, Rudy Clark led the line on the right, partnered by Theo Phillips on the left. The substitutes bench featured Ellis Williams, ready to make an impact if called upon.

The 4-4-2 setup was designed to provide defensive solidity with two banks of four, while allowing the wide midfielders Mason and Courtnadge to support both defence and attack. Central midfielders Hatton and Gill were expected to control the tempo and link play, while the forwards Clark and Phillips aimed to stretch the opposition defence and create goal-scoring opportunities.

The match began with Rustington Otters taking an early lead in the 14th minute, capitalising on a lapse in Worthing Dynamo’s defence to open the scoring. The visitors struggled initially to find their rhythm but remained composed and organised at the back.

As the first half progressed, Worthing Dynamo sought to regain control, but at the half time mark, a tactical substitution was made with Ellis Williams replacing Bailey Freshwater at left back. This also gave the boys a chance to regroup and adjust their approach.

Just after the break, Worthing Dynamo’s resilience paid off. In the 41st minute, Rudy Clark found the net with a composed finish inside the box, expertly set up by a short pass from central defender Leo Whyatt. This goal was a crucial equaliser, restoring parity and boosting the visitors’ confidence.

Momentum swung further in Worthing Dynamo’s favour shortly after the restart. At 47 minutes, Toby Killick scored from close range following a goalmouth scramble, converting a corner delivered by Leo Whyatt. This set-piece success put Worthing Dynamo ahead for the first time in the match.

However, Rustington Otters responded swiftly, drawing level again just two minutes later in the 49th minute. The quick reply ensured the contest remained finely balanced and tense as both sides pushed for a winner.

In the 56th minute, Worthing Dynamo reversed their earlier substitution, bringing Bailey Freshwater back on for Ellis Williams. This tactical switch aimed to refresh the defensive line and maintain stability as the match entered its final stages.

The game’s intensity was further highlighted in the 65th minute when Theo Phillip received a yellow card for unsporting behaviour, a caution that underscored the competitive nature of the fixture. Meaning the team played the last 5 minutes with only 10 players

Throughout the match, Woody Mason stood out with his tireless work on the right midfield, contributing both defensively and offensively, and was deservedly named player of the match for his influential performance.

In the end, the 2-2 draw reflected a hard-fought encounter between two evenly matched sides, with Worthing Dynamo showing character to come from behind and secure a valuable point on the road.
