Home league match

Worthing Dynamo U13 Black hosted Chichester City Colts U13 Red at Durrington High School on 12 October 2025, with kick-off at 10:00am in a league fixture. The match ended in a heavy 7-1 defeat for Worthing Dynamo, who struggled to contain their visitors throughout the 70-minute contest. Referee Archie Taylor oversaw the 11-a-side encounter, which saw Chichester City Colts dominate from early on.

Worthing Dynamo lined up in a 4-5-1 formation, aiming to control midfield and provide support to lone striker Lewis Langdell. Ellis Williams started in goal, protected by a back four comprising Toby Rennie at right back, central defenders Toby Killick and Harrison Flanagan, and Bailey Freshwater at left back. The midfield five featured Theo Phillips on the right, Archie Parker-Muckle, Isaish Hatton, and Leo Whyatt centrally, with Teddy Gill on the left. Langdell was tasked with leading the attack. The substitutes available were Dexter Courtnadge, Rudy Clark, and Sami Dalaman.

The match began disastrously for Worthing Dynamo as Chichester City Colts were awarded a penalty inside the opening two minutes, which they converted to take an early lead. This immediate setback set the tone for the visitors’ dominance. Worthing’s defensive line was tested repeatedly, and the midfield struggled to gain a foothold against a lively Chichester side.

By the 19th minute, Worthing made their first substitution, with Dexter Courtnadge replacing Theo Phillips on the right wing, perhaps seeking fresh legs to bolster midfield creativity. Shortly after, injury forced further changes: Toby Killick was withdrawn in the 24th minute, replaced by Rudy Clark, while goalkeeper Ellis Williams also left the field due to injury, with Archie Parker-Muckle stepping in between the sticks. This unusual switch saw Phillips move from midfield to defence, indicating the severity of the situation.

At half-time, the scoreline reflected Chichester’s control,Worthing responded with a flurry of substitutions during the interval. Ellis Williams returned to goal, replacing Rudy Clark, while Toby Killick came back into central defence, taking the place of Harrison Flanagan.

With the visitors adding a second goal just after the break in the 37th minute. However, Flanagan was soon reintroduced in place of himself at the 40th minute, with Teddy Gill coming on, suggesting some tactical reshuffling in defence and midfield.

Chichester City Colts continued their relentless assault, scoring again in the 41st minute to extend their lead to 4-0. Worthing’s attacking threat remained limited, and further changes were made in the second half. Rudy Clark replaced striker Lewis Langdell in the 51st minute, but the visitors quickly added a fifth goal moments later. Two more goals followed in quick succession at 54 and 59 minutes, leaving Worthing trailing 7-0.

Worthing attempted to inject energy by bringing Teddy Gill back on for Theo Phillips in the 56th minute, and then Theo Phillips returned to the field in place of left back Bailey Freshwater at 64 minutes. Sami Dalaman also came on for Rudy Clark at the same time, indicating a desire to refresh the squad and stem the tide of goals.

Despite the overwhelming scoreline, Worthing managed to find a consolation goal in the 70th minute. Theo Phillips, who had been moved around the pitch due to injuries and substitutions, scored with an assist from Leo Whyatt, providing a rare moment of joy for the home side in the closing stages.

Throughout the match, Worthing’s defensive frailties were exposed, but Harrison Flanagan’s efforts in central defence earned him the player of the match accolade, highlighting his resilience amid a difficult afternoon. Chichester City Colts’ clinical finishing and early dominance ultimately proved decisive in this one-sided encounter at Durrington High School.
