vs Wolverhampton Olympic Athletic
Home league match
Today we took on a strong Wolverhampton Olympic side, who arrived at our home ground full of confidence having ran us close in the reverse fixture and having also beaten other top teams this season.
We took and early lead when Taylor struck from distance and beat their very tall keeper from well over 25 yards out.
1-0 into the break and looking solid at the back, limiting the visitors to half chances. Alex had a stern warning after a late tackle stopped them in their tracks from a certain break away one on one with Ben.
Olympic started the better in the second half and the Wasps missed chances were looking costly. Their striker was sent through and he struck early but Ben saved well to keep us in the game. Their pressure paid off though and they were awarded a penalty shortly afterwards when the referee deemed Ben had tripped their striker. Ben got very close but couldn't keep out the spot kick.
The rest of the second half was dominated by Wasps but a batch of missed chances meant that we could only draw the game and dropped our first points of the season. The march to the top of the league continues and our unbeaten run stays in tact.
Player of the match was awarded to Kieran and Alex.
