Wasps Breeze Into Round 2

Wasps took on newly promoted Division 4 champions Dudley Town Youth in the first round of the league cup. The tone of the game was set in the opening five minutes when we took a quick fire two goal lead, with some slick football and neat finishing from Jasper and Alfie. Dudley managed to stabilise and hit a foot hold back in the game when they scored an excellent long range chip. However, their fight back lasted only a minute as Alfie was back at it again, restoring our two goal advantage, after a delightful through ball from Taylor set him away. The game was firmly in our grasp at half time as Matty got in on the action to make it 4-1.

Dudley took to the second half with something to prove and had the better of the opening exchanges. They nearly clawed another goal back after a well worked move lead to a fierce strike from inside the box, which saw Ben called into action with a superb close range save which made the crowd roar and the opposition manager look on in disbelief.

Wasps managed to rally again and started to play our nice football, some quick shot passing and using the pitch well by switching the play well. This lead to three late goals from Taylor, Harry and Alfie securing his hat trick. We even had time for a Taylor missed penalty which was the only unfortunate note of the game.

Stand out performances all round with the match referee choosing Taylor and the coaching team selecting Kieran for this weeks player of the match awards.

We now look forward to the second round draw.
