Woodman Inn FC vs St Michael FC

A return to league action this week started well for Woodman as they began the game with the bit between their teeth. Early chances came and went, not long before Matthew Corbett cross was met at the far post by Shaun Pearce on the stroke of ten minutes. Woodman continued to press as St Michael camped on the edge of their area. Ryan Metcalfe looked noticeably more passionate with the armband squeezed on to his left bicep, and he was duly rewarded with a goal after some lovely work by Josh Dams. Woodman then began to rest on their laurels as St Michael found the back of the net, and could of had another before the half time whistle as Adam Loftus gallantly threw himself against the post to see an attempt go wide.

St Michael started the second half with some ferocity with the game being fought hard by both teams. St Michael made it evens on the stroke of the hour after a Connor Clifton clearance slipped through the hands of Harry Ellis and prodded home by the one they call ‘the poacher’. They found the net again but it was to be ruled offside, thanks to some deliberation between the ref and linesman, no VAR needed. St Michael then began to have the better chances but this opened it up for the Woodman counter attack. A looping ball from Harry Ellis’ hands was met by a brave header from Tom Mason having recently been brought to the fray. All was left was for Ryan Metcalfe to run into it and slot it round the helpless keeper. The favour was then repaid as Ryan laid it on a plate for Tom Mason. Woodman continue their bid for promotion in a hard fought battle and look to the next game against Jacks Bar for revenge from the cup.
