?? Opponents - Heaton Mersey Vipers

?? Result - 1-2

?? Competition - League match

Bit of a difficult game yesterday on a small pitch which was hard to adapt too; But the boys gave it their all and we were unfortunate not to get a result.

In possession -

We struggled to create chances for ourselves to get goals. This could possibly have been due to the size of the pitch as it was very compact and small which didn’t allow us much space in the final third. This made it difficult for the boys to get a shot off, but also they werent looking to pass the ball around like we usually do and often tried to just drive into difficult spaces in the hope that we came out with the ball. We did manage to create a good few chances though from some good work to get up the pitch and their keeper did make some great saves to keep the game as it was.

Out of possession -

We did look a little bit off our usual game play yesterday as we weren’t always pressing as a team. We did on a few occasions though and when we did we caused them problems which often lead to them kicking the ball out of play or us gaining possession from them in some promising positions. However we didn’t see that enough from the boys. Throughout the second half we did improve our game with us constantly battling for the ball and winning most of our midfield and individual battles. We only allowed them to have 1 chance in the second half which was right at the end.

? MOTM - Oscar

Oscar played brilliantly, pressing and causing mistakes from the defenders and the goalkeeper. As well as helping us stretch the pitch by staying high and making their defenders drop like we told him to. He also scored a very well taken goal on the volley to guide it past their goalkeeper

?? Goals - Oscar

?? Assists - Seth

Definitely an unfortunate game not to win. I know the lads were frustrated and placed the blame on refereeing decisions. Whilst we agree the penalty decision was a debatable one, the message given to the team was that their frustration is probably from their collective performance, as they knew it was a winnable game, and that they need to forget about refereeing decisions after they are made.

See you all at training on Tuesday.

Thanks

Jayden and Tom. ??
