A tough result to take for the boys today. The scoreline 100% flattered the opposition. It was a very good, competitive game and our performance was excellent, probably one of our best performances to date, that’s until the last 10 minutes of the game where they scored 6 of their 8 goals.

In possession -

For the majority of the game the boys kept good care of the ball, finding good passes into good areas to either keep possession of the football or to kickstart a potential attack. We created many chances in the game today and we deserved at least an extra 1 or 2 goals as we hit the woodwork a few times and the keepers made a few good saves that kept the game level. Towards the end of the game we stopped taking care with our passes and at times just aimlessly kicked the ball back to them which was down to a lack of movement from the others, and also a lack of calmness with us just looking to offload the ball as quick as we can. At this level we will get punished for that and that’s what’s happened today.

Out of possession -

The boys did very well in maintaining shape and not allowing the opposition much in behind and on goal, especially in the first 10 minutes when Billy was in goal, a big well done to Billy for stepping up ??. At times today the usual fight and aggression the boys have wasn’t fully there but we also had a few too many moments where we were a little soft in the challenges whereas they weren’t.

? MOTM - Sam

Sam was excellent today causing the opposition problems and making them panic on the ball with his aggression and pace. Then with the ball, getting himself forward beating defenders, winning fouls, and being clinical getting himself 2 well deserved goals and was unlucky not to get himself a 3rd.

As much as it may look like a negative result for 44 minutes the boys were class and deserved something from the game. They were creating many changes and hit the woodwork on a number of occasions. Let’s not dwell on the result as they were many positives to take from today.
