<p>Witham played premier league opposition in the coward cup at home.
<p>Witham unlike other weeks started brightly, and Yates shot went just wide after 5 minutes after a good flick by O'Connor. Witham nearly gifted the away side the lead minutes later when a poor back pass put their forward one on one but J Stoneham made a great save to keep the game level. Johnson went close for Galacticos with a volley 25 yards out but it just went wide of the post. Midway through the half an altercation between Johnson and a Heybridge player resulted in a red card and the away team had to play the rest of the game with 10 men. Johnson was booked for the incident. Yeo then went close after some good build up play put him through on goal but the onrushing keeper got something on the ball to keep the game level.

<p>Witham continued on the front foot but found it difficult to break down their opponents as they had men consistently behind the ball. Rowlands had a chance outside the box after some superb build up play but he shot went well wide. J Stoneham was controlling the back line and on numerous occasions was quick off his line to see out any potential threat on the counter attack. Murphy was also a big contributor with some great interceptions and won every header. Long nearly gave Witham the lead had it not been for a superb save at point blank range and he was onhand again to save well minutes later. On 69 minutes a defensive error gifted the premier league side a goal completely against the run of play. Witham pushed on in search for an equaliser and O'Connor nearly grabbed it with a header from a corner that just went over the bar. In the dying minutes Johnson was shown a second yellow for dissent after the linesman wrongly raised his flag numerous times

<p>It was a much improved performance than in recent weeks and today we was unlucky not to be in the next round. Todays man of the match goes to Jack Murphy who had a solid display at the back and deserved a clean sheet.
