Excellent First Half Performance Wins Game

Galacticos travelled to promotion rivals Hanningfield knowing a win was a must.

Witham started fast with high pressing and won 2 corners within the first 2 minutes. On 5 minutes a foul was won just outside the box and Yeo stepped up to superbly place the ball in the top left corner. 2 minutes later Yates was on the score sheet after he rifled home from 16 yards after the home team failed to clear their lines. 27 minutes in and Yeo grabbed his second with a good finish after good work by Murphy. A minute later some great work by the forwards and one touch passing finished by Yates first time from J Stonehams pass making it 4-0. On 40 minutes Hanningfield grabbed a lifeline with a good finish from just outside the box but Yeo put to bed any come back with a well worked goal after beating 2 men and finishing on his left foot to get his hat trick.

The second half was less energetic from the away team and the home team begun to creep back into the game. On 67 minutes some confusion at the back resulted in a penalty to Hanningfield which was comfortable converted. Hanningfield nearly grabbed an immediate third goal but for some poor finishing. On 74 minutes there was hope as the home side won another penalty which was well converted again. Witham had to hold on and upped their game with Yates forcing a good save from the keeper with his 20 yard drive. Eventually Witham sore out the threat and continued their good run of results
