GALACTICOS CRASH OUT OF COUNTY CUP

<p>Witham hosted tough opposition in the first round of the county cup against Fox & Fiddler, last season's Essex Junior Trophy Winners.<p>Witham were on the back foot from the start and it was obvious the team from Colchester were going to be formidable. Against the run of play Witham went 1-o up when O'connor's near post run was found by Yeo and he swept home from 8 yards. Fiddler pushed forward and were guilty of missing a couple of chances but equalised on 26 minutes. On 40 minutes the pressure told and after a good team move our opponents led 2-1<p>HALF TIME WITHAM GALACTICOS 1 FOX AND FIDDLER 2<p>Witham improved in the second half but the link up play between the opposition's midfielders and front 3 was a nightmare for the defence and on 63 minutes it was 3-1. Witham dug deep and the energetic Jackson pulled a goal back when he tapped home from O'Connors squared ball. Witham went in search on an equaliser and pushed forward but then keeper was on hand to save well from O'Connors shot and the follow up from Yates. On 82 minutes it was game set and match when Fiddler broke away on the counter attack and deservedly went into the next round.<p><br><p>FINAL SCORE WITHAM GALACTICOS 2 FOX AND FIDDLER 4<p>Disapointing result against strong opposition but we can perform better. Joe Jackson was todays man of the match after a strong performance rounded up with his second goal of the season. Notable performance from OC who grabbed himself a goal and an assist.
